Extra-ordinary Kids

Nandry is enjoying her junior year being back with her friends, taking challenging AP classes, and crafting in her spare time. Both Nandry & Boaz are attending Rain Forest International School, living 5 hours away from our village in a home (hostel) with 8 kids plus 2 hostel parents. We are grateful for this opportunity for them that grows and matures them, even though we have to observe from afar. October break is coming up, and we'll bring them home for a week and a half!

Boaz enjoyed playing football (soccer) for the school this year. We got to watch one match early in September while we were visiting for the weekend. We've heard what an asset he is to his team, organizing and encouraging others on the field while the game is in play. He's also joined the running club, with the goal of joining them early in 2018 to climb Mt Cameroon. He needs to complete a certain number of kilometers by then to be eligible for the trip, and he's well on his way!

Everyone is wondering how Asher is doing, being the only child at home now. He’s doing great! He’s working hard and often very independently at school, and he’s enjoying deepening his friendships with the Baka youth. In the afternoons, he’s often setting or checking traps with two of his best friends; planting things in his garden; or cooking greens, rice, plantains, etc over the fire with his buddies.

Nathan and I are so proud of these kids! It’s strange being in this stage of life were they are maturing rapidly and becoming independent young adults. We are so grateful to God for the opportunity to be their parents, and we cherish every moment we have together as a family.
